Founded in 2007 by Laurie Hood in Freeport, FL. To date it is estimated that Alaqua has helped 85,000 animals, from abuse, surrender, hoarding, kill shelters, and facilitates the rehabilitation of wildlife along the emerald coast. They currently have 500 animals in their care, with dozens more arriving daily.

8.5 years ago Alaqua was gifted 100 acres to grow and expand their facility. With this they are following their mission to Rescue, Rehabilitate, Adopt, Educate, and Train. On this property there is currently a coffee truck where you can enjoy cats and kittens in an open air environment, and see the property via a self guided tour. There are plans for an Interactive Education Experience for children and adults to meet various animals up close and personal, a playground using leftover construction materials, an exotic apiary, and so much more.

Please join us in supporting Alaqua as they protect animals and wildlife in Okaloosa, Walton, Bay and surrounding counties. This nonprofit organization can use the following donations:
