Enjoy A Gloomy Fall Day

5 Ways to to Enjoy A Gloomy Fall Day At Home

For some people, a rainy or cloudy fall day is something to look forward to. However, for many others, this type of weather can really bring you down. Lift your spirits and take advantage of gloomy fall days with these 5 tips and activities to enjoy at home.

1. Themed Movie Marathon

If you know you’re about to spend a long day inside, plan a themed movie marathon and invite some friends and family over. You can decorate the house, make themed food and drinks, and snuggle up for a few hours watching your favorite films. Right now would be a perfect time to have a holiday themed movie marathon! Decorate your house like a winter wonderland, serve hot chocolate and warm cookies, and even turn on the fireplace.

2. Cooking & Baking

There’s never a bad time to cook or bake, but a gloomy fall day might just be the best time! When using the stove or oven, you can’t just up and leave the house. So, this activity is great for days when you’ll already be home for a while. Take some time to cook some holiday treats or even meal prep for the week so you don’t have to worry about it later. Don’t worry about making too much when it comes to baking. You may not be able to eat all the sweets by yourself, but you can always bring some to family and friends as a nice surprise!

3. Self Care Spa Day

If a spa day doesn’t entice you, what will? We’re not talking about paying hundreds for a massage, seaweed wrap, mud bath, and facial. We’re talking about doing your own spa day at home! Grab some inexpensive face masks from the store, get a foot mask and pedicure kit, grab your favorite nail polish, some bubbles for a bubble bath, and a good-smelling candle. Once you’ve got all this, you’re ready to go.

First, take a bubble bath and light a candle. This will relieve any stress and calm your tense muscles. While you’re in the bath, use your face and feet masks so you can easily wash them off before getting out. Once done, use your pedicure kit on your feet to get off the dry skin and make them feel smooth and soft. Next, wrap your legs and cover your face with hot towels for 10 minutes. Lastly, paint your nails, light some candles, and relax on the couch with a good movie or some music on, or read a book!

4. Crafts With The Kids

If you have kids, it might feel hard to keep them entertained when spending time inside on a gloomy fall day. However, it doesn’t have to be. There are tons of crafts for all ages you can look up online. You may want to prepare beforehand so you have the materials ready to go. Check out these fun crafts for kids on Pinterest

5. Clean the House

Cleaning the house may not seem like a fun activity, but it’s necessary to deep clean every once in a while. What better time to do so than when you’re stuck inside for the day? Wake up, drink your coffee and eat your breakfast, and get to cleaning! Cleaning the house will sure make the day go by faster and will make you feel more productive. Did you know cleaning can actually lower your stress levels as well? It’s important for your health to be active, even when you’re stuck at home.

Go through each room and vacuum, sweep, or mop, clean off flat surfaces, and dust plants, picture frames, and knick-knacks. In bathrooms, clean the mirrors, sinks, toilets, and showers and/or baths. Be sure to declutter as you go through each room as well.
